THE PRESIDENT'S LETTER 2011

Becky Adams
The beginning of the new year is a good time to celebrate the success of our WEDC Foundation scholars and look forward to the Women Honoring Women event for 2011.
Scholar Traci Hurt successfully passed her nursing examinations and she is now a RN in Labor and Delivery at Crestwood Medical Center. In December 2010 Pam Cochran graduated from UAH with a degree in Nursing. This despite giving birth to a precious son, Nathaniel(Nate) Erin in September! Congratulations to our scholars for their hard work and success in achieving their goals.
Please Save the date of Thursday, September 15, 2011 for the annual Women Honoring Women event at the Von Braun Center. Crestwood Medical Center will again be the Title sponsor for Women Honoring Women. We are thrilled and honored that Crestwood is serving as the title sponsor of this exciting event! Our Co chair for Fund Raising for Women Honoring Women is Carolyn Lord. Carolyn brings a wealth of experience as a the owner of Omni Team, LLC, a Chamber Business Award winner that helps companies build strong organizations. Omni Team is best known for redirecting displaced employees for downsizing or closing businesses. Carolyn understands the WEDC Foundation mission well and she is excited about being involved again.
Carolyn joined the Women's Economic Development Council (WEDC) Foundation board in 2001. She was elected President of the Foundation board in 2006, and under her leadership the endowment for the scholars exceeded $100,000. We look forward to Carolyn's creative ideas, her energy, and her enthusiasm.
As we embark on this new year, may we all remember those who have helped us become the people we are today, and find ways to thankfully give to help those who are in need.
Becky Adams, President
