BUSINESS & COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Our Business and Community Partners program has afforded the WEDC Foundation wonderful resources for our Scholars and our organization that continue to enhance our growth and development.
CRESTWOOD MEDICAL CENTER
One of North Alabama’s premiere hospitals and community resource facilities, Crestwood Medical Center provides essential support for the continued expansion of the WEDC Foundation’s ability to reach and assist at-risk women in Madison County. Not only is Crestwood the original and continuing Title Sponsor of Women Honoring Women for the fifth consecutive year, but they have generously donated the Foundation office space, meeting spaces and internet services. Our tremendous thanks to Brad Jones, Dr. Pam Hudson and Lori Light of Crestwood Medical Center. For information on the many programs and resources at Crestwood, visit www.crestwoodmedcenter.com.
YMCA OF NORTH ALABAMA
With some of North Alabama’s most far-reaching programs for families, adults and children, the Heart of the Valley YMCA of North Alabama is the WEDC Foundation's newest partner. The relationship began with the Foundation providing input and ideas for the new YMCA opening in Madison City, to discuss ways the facility could provide resources to assist with the education goals of our scholarship recipients and others like them that are typically single parents working toward a college degree and economic independence. Today, the YMCA has two WEDCF Scholars serving on their Board of Directors, and recently voted to maintain one board seat for a WEDCF Scholar in subsequent years. Our thanks to YMCA President and CEO Scott Mounts and Chairman of the Board Bill Mathis. For information on current YMCA programs, visit www.ymcahuntsville.org
BOEING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP
The Boeing Women in Leadership in the Huntsville office of one of the world’s leading defense companies, Boeing, continue to support the WEDC Foundation in many ways. An initial meeting the Leadership group led to an in-depth Career Development Workshop in 2006 at the Boeing building which included presentations from Boeing engineers, human resources and security managers on their respective career paths and educational backgrounds. Boeing also recorded the program and provided DVD copies for the Foundation’s education library. Women in Leadership also regularly provide donations of professional women’s clothing to the Neighborhood Store’s WEDCF closet and support our Women Honoring Women event. Our thanks to Kay Moorefield and the Women in Leadership team at Boeing. For information on Boeing, visit www.boeing.com
